On a Georgia HO-3 homeowners policy, how is coverage on the dwelling (Coverage A) and personal property (Coverage C) typically structured?
ABoth dwelling and personal property on named perils
BBoth dwelling and personal property on open perils
Dwelling on open perils, personal property on named perils
DDwelling on named perils, personal property on open perils
Why this is the answer
Georgia HO-3 is the most common homeowners form. It insures the dwelling (Coverage A) and other structures (Coverage B) on an open-perils basis, meaning all causes of loss are covered except those specifically excluded. Personal property (Coverage C) is insured on a named-perils basis, covering only the 16 perils listed in the policy. To get open-perils coverage on contents as well, the insured must upgrade to an HO-5 form.
