   Six months to apply — and the clock starts at your FIRST pass

   The completed license application must be submitted within six months of passing. If you do not pass both portions at one sitting, those six months run from your first passing score, not your second. Most states give a year; Missouri gives half that and starts it earlier.

   The Missouri portion needs 75%, the national 70%

   Two different passing marks, scored separately. The state half is the stricter one — though it does give you 120 minutes for 40 questions, three minutes each.

   Business conduct is 17 of 40 state questions

   Advertising, listings, offers, earnest money, closing statements, commissions, branch offices, personal assistants. That single area outweighs licenses, discipline and brokerage relationships combined.

   The MREP course is separate from the exam course

   The 48-hour pre-exam course gets you to the test. A further 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course must be completed before you submit the application — it can be taken before or after the exam, but not skipped.

   $52 covers both portions, and a retake is still $52

   The fee is $52 for the two examination portions regardless of whether you take one or both, and a retake of one portion is also $52. Registration fees are not refundable and expire one year after registering.

   The state portion gives you three minutes a question

   40 questions in 120 minutes, against 100 questions in 150 minutes nationally. If you run short on the state half it is not the clock — it is the material.

   Reciprocal candidates take the state portion only

   Holding a current active license in another jurisdiction, you sit only the Missouri state portion — the 75% half — and still owe the 24-hour MREP course.
