Under Ohio salvage title rules, when does the Bureau of Motor Vehicles require a vehicle to be branded with a salvage title?

AWhen repair costs equal at least 50% of the vehicle's pre-loss fair market value as determined by the insurer
BOnly when the vehicle is more than 10 years old
When the cost of repairs exceeds the value of the vehicle and the insurer pays it as a total loss
DOnly when the owner requests the brand voluntarily

Why this is the answer

Under R.C. 4505.11, an insurer that pays a vehicle as a total loss must obtain a salvage certificate of title from the Ohio BMV. The brand follows the vehicle and must be disclosed on resale. A rebuilt salvage title is available only after the vehicle passes a Highway Patrol anti-theft inspection and a state-recognized rebuild process.
