An ISO PAP insured already lists one car on the policy and buys a second additional vehicle on March 1. The insured does not notify the insurer until April 15. Assuming the insurer offers physical-damage coverage on the existing auto, when does Part D coverage on the newly acquired additional auto END?
AImmediately at acquisition — additional autos are never automatically covered
B30 days after acquisition, regardless of reporting
CAt the end of the policy period, because acquisition triggers automatic coverage for the remainder of the term
14 days after acquisition, because the insured failed to report it within the reporting window
Why this is the answer
In the current PAP (PP 00 01 09 18), Collision and Other Than Collision coverage for a newly acquired auto begins on the day the insured becomes the owner, but applies only if the insured asks the insurer to insure the auto within 14 days when the Declarations show that coverage on at least one auto (four days when they do not). Here the existing auto carries physical damage coverage, so the window is 14 days; because the insured waited until April 15, the automatic protection runs out after day 14 and coverage begins again only on the day the insured asks. See ISO PP 00 01 Newly Acquired Auto provision.
