Which combination correctly describes the standard limits available under a New Jersey Standard Policy (as opposed to the Basic Policy)?
ABI 10/10, PD $5,000, PIP $15,000, no UM
BI 35/70 minimum for policies issued or renewed on or after 1/1/2026 (25/50 before that), PD $25,000 minimum, PIP up to $250,000, UM/UIM available
CBI 100/300 mandatory, PD $100,000, PIP $10,000
DLiability optional, PIP $50,000 fixed, UM mandatory at 100/300 regardless of BI limits
Why this is the answer
The Standard Policy is New Jersey's full-feature personal auto form. Minimum BI is 35/70 for policies issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026 — the second step of the increase enacted by P.L. 2022, c.87, which raised the 50-year-old 15/30 floor to 25/50 in 2023 and to 35/70 in 2026. Minimum PD is $25,000 and PIP medical-expense benefits are available up to $250,000 per person per accident. UM/UIM must be offered, and N.J.S.A. 17:28-1.1 caps UM/UIM at the policy's liability limits rather than setting them automatically.
