Under NY Ins. Law § 2132, how many total continuing education hours (including required ethics hours) must a NY-licensed P&C producer complete each two-year license cycle?

A10 hours total, including 1 hour ethics
B24 hours total, including 3 hours ethics
C30 hours total, including 5 hours ethics
15 hours total, including 3 hours ethics

Why this is the answer

NY Ins. Law § 2132 obligates every resident producer (broker, agent, consultant, excess line broker) to complete 15 hours of DFS-approved CE during each biennial license cycle, of which at least 3 hours must be devoted to ethics. CE must be completed by the license renewal date; failure causes administrative non-renewal. The producer self-certifies on the renewal form, but DFS may audit CE records for up to four years.
