In New York, Optional Basic Economic Loss (OBEL) coverage provides how much ADDITIONAL coverage above the standard PIP $50,000 limit?

$25,000
B$10,000
C$50,000
D$100,000

Why this is the answer

Optional Basic Economic Loss (OBEL) is a New York no-fault add-on regulated under 11 NYCRR § 65-1 (Reg 68). It provides an additional $25,000 of coverage stacked on top of the mandatory $50,000 Basic Economic Loss. The insured may apply the OBEL benefits toward any of the three economic-loss categories (medical, lost earnings, or other expenses) once the underlying $50,000 has been exhausted. Combined OBEL + PIP cap = $75,000. OBEL is not the same as APIP, which is a separately purchased supplemental layer with broader terms.
