A Texas General Lines Life, Accident, Health and HMO agent's license is renewed on a 2-year cycle. Under TIC §§4004.053 and 4004.054, what are the CE requirements that must be satisfied each renewal period?

A12 total CE hours, including 1 hour of ethics
24 total CE hours, including 3 hours of ethics
C30 total CE hours, including 5 hours of ethics and 5 hours of classroom-equivalent courses
D24 total CE hours, including 5 hours of ethics and at least 8 hours in the agent's primary line of authority

Why this is the answer

Texas Insurance Code §4004.053(a) requires an individual who holds a general life, accident, and health license to complete 24 hours of continuing education during each license period, and §4004.054 requires three hours of ethics in each renewal period. At least half of the required hours must be completed in a classroom or department-approved classroom-equivalent setting (§4004.051(c)), but there is no separate 5-hour classroom figure and no 8-hour line-of-authority requirement, and the ethics requirement is three hours, not five. A 12-hour total does not match the Texas general-lines requirement; only limited licenses carry a smaller requirement.
