Vehicles are prohibited from joining a funeral procession to secure the right of way or passing vehicles in it, except in a passing lane. A driver must come to a complete stop and yield when a pedestrian is in a marked crosswalk.

Right-of-way comes down to one question: who goes first? Let's work through five everyday situations from the Illinois Rules of the Road. For each one, pick your answer before I reveal it.
0:16Situation 1
You're waiting to turn right on a green light, and a pedestrian starts across with the WALK signal. A pedestrian crosses with a WALK signal while you wait to turn. What must you do? The answer is A: Yield to the pedestrian. A driver must yield when a pedestrian walks with a green light, a walking person symbol, or a WALK signal. When a pedestrian crosses with the WALK signal, they go first. Wait, then turn.
1:13Situation 2
A long funeral procession is getting through a busy intersection. Tagging along at the end looks like a shortcut. May you join a funeral procession to get through an intersection faster? The answer is C: No; that is prohibited. Vehicles are prohibited from joining a funeral procession to secure the right of way or passing vehicles in it, except in a passing lane. Joining a funeral procession to get through faster is prohibited. Wait your turn.
2:13Situation 3
A pedestrian is walking across a marked crosswalk just ahead of you. A pedestrian is in a marked crosswalk ahead. What must you do? The answer is A: Come to a complete stop and yield. A driver must come to a complete stop and yield when a pedestrian is in a marked crosswalk. Come to a complete stop and yield until they're safely across.
3:08Situation 4
Your road ends at a T intersection with no signs or signals. A car is coming along the through road. At a T intersection with no signs or signals, who must yield? The answer is B: The driver on the road that ends. Yield to cross traffic when you are on the terminating highway of a T intersection with no traffic control signs or signals. On the road that ends, you yield to cross traffic on the through road.
4:06Situation 5
You've come to a full stop at a flashing red light. A pedestrian is crossing ahead of you. After stopping at a flashing red signal, what must you do? The answer is C: Yield to other vehicles and pedestrians before going. After coming to a complete stop at a stop sign or flashing red signal, you must yield the right of way. Stopping is only half of it. Yield to vehicles and pedestrians, then go when it's safe.
5:05Recap

Vehicles are prohibited from joining a funeral procession to secure the right of way or passing vehicles in it, except in a passing lane. A driver must come to a complete stop and yield when a pedestrian is in a marked crosswalk. Yield to cross traffic when you are on the terminating highway of a T intersection with no traffic control signs or signals.
