Turning, changing lanes and passing are where small mistakes get expensive. Here are five situations from the Georgia Driver's Manual. For each one, pick your answer before I reveal it.

0:16Situation 1

You're driving through a roundabout with two lanes. In a multilane roundabout, what should you not do? The answer is A: Change lanes. Get into the correct lane before entering, keep your lane, and do not change lanes in the roundabout. Pick the right lane before you enter, then stay in it. No lane changes inside the roundabout.

1:04Situation 2

You need to get to the other side of a divided road, and the grassy median looks flat. Where may you drive across a median that separates two roadways? The answer is C: Only at an authorized opening or crossover. It is unlawful to drive across a dividing section or unpaved strip except at an authorized opening or crossover. Cross only at an authorized opening or crossover, never over the median strip.

2:03Situation 3

You're on a four-lane road with two solid yellow lines down the middle. On a road with four or more lanes, when may you cross the two solid yellow center lines? The answer is B: Only to turn left into or from an alley, driveway or street. You may cross them only to make a left turn into or from an alley, private road, driveway or another street. You may cross them only to turn left into or out of an alley, driveway, private road or street.

3:03Situation 4

You've overshot your exit on the expressway by just a few car lengths. May you back up on an expressway? The answer is C: No, under any circumstances. Driving in reverse on an expressway is prohibited under any circumstances. Never back up on an expressway, for any reason. Take the next exit.

3:54Situation 5

On a two-lane road, you're behind a slow car with a bridge just ahead. Within how many feet of a railroad crossing, bridge or tunnel is passing prohibited on a two-lane road? The answer is B: 100 feet. Passing is prohibited within 100 feet of a railroad crossing, bridge, viaduct or tunnel.
