Do I need both?
For open-book exams, most people need books from somebody and drilling from somebody. Buying CTC’s book bundle and drilling on a $10 subscription is a legitimate stack — as is renting books elsewhere (1 Exam Prep’s rental returns a $1,000 deposit) and skipping the course entirely.
Why are contractor packages $3,000?
The paper. Open-book exams allow 19–25 specific references, and bundles include them pre-tabbed and highlighted. The course component runs $349–$700; the books are the rest. Tabbing them yourself with a guide costs a weekend and saves four figures.
Does Contractor Training Center have a pass guarantee?
We could not find one on their site during our August 2026 verification pass, though a "no-pass, no-pay" guarantee appears in older search snippets. Their published policy is a 30-day refund only if you are under 25% complete, with all book sales final. Ask before you buy.
What is the open-book lookup trainer?
A timed drill that gives you a question and scores how fast you locate the governing passage in the reference set. NASCLA gives you 5.5 hours for 115 questions — nowhere near enough to look everything up, so retrieval speed is a scored skill worth practicing deliberately.
