Vent connectors carry combustion products from an appliance to the chimney or vent, and every joint in that path has to stay together. Sheet metal screws are the standard mechanical fastening — typically three per joint, evenly spaced — and they are what prevents sections separating from vibration, thermal cycling or someone bumping the pipe during service. A separated connector dumps flue gases, including carbon monoxide, directly into the room. So screws at the joints are a correct condition the inspector confirms, not a defect. The finding to look for is the opposite: joints with no fasteners, sections merely pushed together, or connectors held with tape, all of which are common and all of which can come apart.
